Once upon a time in land far far away, there are mental health practitioners who actually care about their patients ...... but fairy tales are books. Patients and loved ones, demand to be educated about the effects of medical interventions and the repercussions that these have on the body and mind. If you dislike what you hear, demand a second opinion and demand clarity if unclear about anything.

I’ve traversed the public mental health system of New Zealand and Australia with 2 siblings and recognise 2 poignant facts. Pharmaceutical drugs are not a solution. People have a better capacity to recover when they’re treated by people who care enough to do more than dispense drugs, observe and record and, force people to conform to a rigid structure of ineffectual practice.Unfortunately, I’ve witnessed in abject horror how people are treated like experimental animals forced to run a gauntlet by practitioners who are equally trapped and running on a treadmill beside them. If a doctor or psychiatrist prescribes medication for you, ask yourself if you’ve tried every conceivable avenue of treatment before you become dependent on a drug, the same as an addict.
